NEHEMIAH

Nehemiah

In Persia’s court the cupbearer prayed
He heard of walls in ruins laid
With heart in grief he sought the King
Permission gained for bricks to bring

To Judah’s land he made his way
By night he searched the gates decayed
He called the people rise & build
Though foes opposed their hands were skilled

With sword & trowel side by side
They worked with courage God supplied
The wall was raised in fifty days
They shouted thanks & gave God praise

Yet mockers rose with schemes & lies
But God was strong & made them wise
Nehemiah stood so true
With faith in God the work went through

Ezra then read the law aloud
The people wept yet also vowed
To turn to God with hearts sincere
& keep His covenant year by year

They signed the pledge with zeal & might
Restoring worship pure & right
They kept the feasts with joy renewed
& honored God in gratitude

But still reforms were hard to keep
The people wandered fell asleep
Nehemiah called them back again
To walk with God & flee from sin

The story shows God’s guiding hand
In building up His chosen land
Through prayer & work & courage strong
His faithful love endured so long
