PHILIPPIANS

From prison walls, Paul’s letter rings
With joy that soars on eagle’s wings
He writes to saints who stand & pray
Encouraging love in every way

He thanks them first for gifts they gave
For helping him the Gospel save
Though chained in Rome, his hope won’t cease
For Christ is life & death is peace

“Let your conduct shine so bright
Worthy of Christ, the Lord of Light
Stand side by side, one spirit, one soul
Press toward the prize, the heavenly goal”

He urges them, “Be like the Son
Who humbled Himself, though God, the One
He took on flesh, obeyed, & died
Exalted now, at God’s right side”

“Do all things without complaint
Live pure, unblameable, true & saint
Shine as stars in a darkened land
Holding the word with steadfast hand”

He names Epaphroditus dear
Who risked his life to bring good cheer
& Timothy, loyal & true of heart
Will come to them, to do his part

He warns of those who trust in flesh
Who boast in works & claim they’re fresh
But Paul counts all as loss, indeed
Compared to Christ, his hope, his creed

“Rejoice in the Lord, again I say
Rejoice in Christ in every way
Forget the past, press on, be strong
The upward call will keep you long”

With gentle words, he calls for peace
For quarrels among the saints to cease
Content in Christ through want or gain
His joy in the Lord will still remain

“My God shall supply your every need
Through Christ, who loves, in word & deed
To Him be glory, high above
Forever praised for endless love”
