Paul writes to Colossae with care
To lift their hearts in truth & prayer
He greets them first with thankful voice
Rejoicing in their faith & choice
He prays they grow in wisdom’s light
In strength & power to walk aright
Delivered now from sin’s dark reign
Redeemed through Christ, whose blood was slain
Christ is the image, pure & clear
Of God unseen, who brought us near
All things were made by Him, we know
Through Him, to Him, all treasures flow
He is the head, the Church’s guide
In Him God’s fullness does abide
Through cross & blood, He made us free
To stand in holy purity
Paul warns them not to be deceived
By empty words that misconceived
No ritual law, no human pride
Can save apart from Christ who died
“Let no one bind you,” Paul declares
“With rules of food or worldly cares
Such shadows fade, the substance true
Is Christ the Lord who lives in you”
“Since raised with Him, seek things above
Set minds on heaven, clothed in love
Put off the old—anger, deceit
Put on the new, in mercy sweet”
Wives & husbands, walk in peace
Children obey, let quarrels cease
Servants, serve with heart sincere
Masters, be just, for God is near
“Continue steadfast, watch & pray
Let thankful words adorn your day
Season your speech with grace & light
That all may know the gospel’s might”
Paul ends with greetings, names of friends
& faithful blessings that he sends
“Grace be with you,” his letter signs
A hymn of truth in holy lines
