Lamentations
How lonely sits the city now
Her streets are empty, grief her brow
The walls lie broken, tears like rain
Her children cry, her loss is pain
Judah mourns for sins long past
Her kings are gone, her hope seems vast
The Lord’s fierce anger fell like fire
Yet still His mercy can inspire
We weep by night, we pray by day
Our hearts lament the former way
The hands of foes have crushed us low
Yet God remains, His love will show
Though sorrow deep surrounds our land
We lift our eyes, we raise our hand
For though the city lies in dust
The Lord is faithful, strong & just
Remember, O my soul, His care
Though suffering feels too hard to bear
He heals, He binds, He turns the grief
And brings His people sweet relief
Through ashes, tears, & mourning song
We trust the Lord to make us strong
Though exile comes & shadows press
His mercy shines through our distress
Thus Lamentations speaks of pain
But shows God’s love will still remain
Through sorrow, loss, & darkest night
He calls His children to the light
