Amos

The Lord declares through visions clear

Against the nations far & near

For Israel, His people, too

He calls to justice, faith, & true

The wealthy feast while poor ones cry

Their greed & sin shall not pass by

He hates the lies, the empty prayer

The hollow worship, hearts unfair

Seek righteousness, uphold the right

Defend the weak, protect the plight

The widow, orphan, stranger’s cause

He sees all acts, He knows the laws

The songs & dances please Him not

If hearts are cold, His Word forgot

He warns of judgment, fire, & sword

Yet offers mercy from the Lord

Though cities fall, though rulers stray

God’s faithful care will guide the way

He calls the people to repent

And turn to Him, His Spirit sent

He lifts the lowly, humbles proud

His justice shakes the earthly crowd

The heavens watch, the earth shall quake

For God will act, His truth to make

The plumb line tests, the scales are true

The false shall fall, the just renew

He hates oppression, greed, & lies

And sees each deed with holy eyes

Yet hope remains for those who hear

Who turn to God, who persevere

He plants the righteous like a tree

And blesses all with victory

Thus Amos speaks with voice so strong

To warn, correct, & guide the throng

Through prophecy, through righteous plea

He calls His people back to Thee
