Haggai
The Lord calls out to Zerubbabel
& to the priests who lead as well
“Rebuild My temple, raise the walls
Restore My house within these halls”
The people heard but hearts were faint
Their labor slowed, their work seemed quaint
Yet God proclaimed, “Be strong & see
I am with you, faithfully”
The fields are ripe, the harvest near
But God desires your hearts sincere
The past was wasted, nothing gained
Yet future work shall not be strained
He stirs the leaders to arise
To heed His voice, to lift their eyes
The glory of this latter house
Shall surpass the former, without douse
The nations watch, the kingdoms fear
The Lord Almighty shall appear
He shakes the heavens, the earth, the seas
And all shall tremble at His decrees
The people work, encouraged now
The temple grows, they wonder how
God fills their hearts with hope & grace
And smiles upon their faithful place
The Lord reminds them of their past
Though scattered, lost, their sins held fast
He calls them back with tender hand
To build the temple, bless the land
The glory comes, the Lord draws near
His Spirit rests, the people cheer
Though trials come, His word stands sure
His covenant, eternal, pure
Thus Haggai speaks to faithful hearts
To build, to trust, to do their parts
Through labor, prayer, & holy ways
God guides His people all their days
The work begun shall prosper well
God dwells within His house to dwell
Through faith, through courage, hope, & love
He lifts His children from above
